Movies for the Blind

You ever wonder how you can enjoy movies without sight? Actually, there is a service called audio description that allows blind people to keep up with what's going on in a film Audio description consists of an extra audio layer to a film, comprised of a narrator verbally stating what is currently happening in the scene. Audio description can be found on the special features of a lot of dvds and blue rays, as well as services that allow you to listen to and download movies on the computer. I haven't tried Apple's services for audio description, but I have tried and enjoyed the services of a web site, known as www.blindmicemart.com. I just signed up for a free account with the shopping site, and whenever you are logged in, you can access the movie valt of described movies. The shopping site also has a wide variety of products for the blind and visually impaired, so I would definitely look it up. I would love to hear about what different people's favorite movies are.

free old time radio

Everyone loves listening to the radio, right? If you can imagine listening to radio programming other than music or talk shows, then you might be interested in old time radio from the 1930's, 1940's, and the 1950's. Through the web, you can now listen to and download classic radio shows for free, and the shows are expressed through mp3 and real formats. The web sites are blind friendly, using links, lists, and simple elements that any screen reader should be able to navigate. Go to www.otr.net, www.radiolovers.com, and www.oldradioworld.com, and check out there selection. I have personally reviewed all three of these sites, and I have had success listening to these programs. I myself like mysteries and adventure myself, and there is a wide variety of genres to choose from. These shows were excellent for there time before television, and I urge you to check it out for yourself. Please let me know what you think. What are your favorite categories of fiction in media? Leave comments below and tell me what radio shows you like.
